Beare Green Community Association (BGCA)'s Community Cinema “Merebank Movies” shows a film on the second Saturday of each month. Doors open 7:00, the film starts 7:30, and there is a short interval half way through.  Refreshments are available.

£5 entry for all.  No need to book, nor any means to do so - we have never had to turn anyone away as we have 80 seats. 

14th December 7:30 Swede Caroline - chaos reigns in this strange, funny and amiably anarchic mockumentary about dirty tricks in the cutthroat world of competitive marrow-growing

4th Jan 7:30 Thelma -  This heart-warming film about a lady who falls victim to a phone scam, and sets out to track down the perpetrators with the help of her grandson and friend, was one of the top 10 independent films of 2024. 

1st Feb 7:30 "The Critic"  British period thriller film directed by Anand Tucker and written by Patrick Marber, based on the 2015 novel Curtain Call by Anthony Quinn. The film stars Ian McKellen, Gemma Arterton, Mark Strong, Ben Barnes, Alfred Enoch, Romola Garai, and Lesley Manville.

1st March 7:30 "Paddington in Peru"  - a live-action animated adventure comedy film directed by Dougal Wilson (in his feature directorial debut) and written by Mark Burton, Jon Foster, and James Lamont from a story by Paul King, Simon Farnaby, and Burton. It is the third instalment in the Paddington film series, which are based on the Paddington stories by Michael Bond, and a sequel to Paddington (2014) and Paddington 2 (2017)

5th April 7:30 "Small Things Like These" -  a 2024 historical drama film directed by Tim Mielants and adapted by Enda Walsh from the 2021 novel by Claire Keegan. The film stars Cillian Murphy (who also serves as a producer), Eileen Walsh, Michelle Fairley, Emily Watson, Clare Dunne, and Helen Behan. An international co-production between Ireland and Belgium, its plot focuses on the infamous Magdalene Laundries in Ireland.   It had its world premiere at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival on 15 February 2024, and was released in Ireland and the United Kingdom on 1 November 2024. It received positive reviews from critics.
